Because I Care

Hi, it's Shelly, you're friendly guest designer for Classy Cards 'n Such

Today I have a card and tutorial that's quick and easy. You could even use the same supplies and layout in different sizes for invitations or a scrapbook page!

Supplies Used:

Spellbinders Cherry Blossoms die cut
Gingham Cover-A-Card Background Stamp
Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A
Twinkling H2Os
Dark brown card stock
White card stock
Red ink pad

The card base is cut at 11 x 4.25 inches. Score the card at 5.50 and 2.75 inches. (See photo below).

Now we begin to die cut, paint, stamp and assemble all the parts.

Using the Spellbinders Cherry Blossom die and dark brown paper, cut the branches. Also cut the flowers out of white card stock.

Paint the flowers a bright yellow with Twinkling H2Os. Don't attach the flowers yet!

I cut a plain white frame with the Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A. The outer edge measures approximately 2.75 x 4 inches.

Using another piece of white card stock, I used the Gingham Cover-A-Card Background Stamp in red. Cut the gingham panel slightly smaller than the frame. Attach the white frame to the top of the gingham panel. Turn the framed panel over, and on the lower half attach pop dots or foam mounting tape to give the panel dimension. My "stingy" stamper tip is to use flat cut up pieces of a paper egg carton for dimension!

Attach the framed gingham panel to the front of the base card on the 2.75 x 4 inch front panel. Follow the example in the top photo or use your artistic instincts!

I centered a Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A over my sentiment and cut. Layer the rectangular sentiment piece on bright yellow card stock and trim to a narrow border.  Now, attach your framed sentiment where ever you think is best.

For the last step, attach the branches and then the flowers to your card. It's done!

Quick and easy, right? You could easily cut multiples of everything and assemble cards in no time at all!  I hope I inspired you to try something new!

Your card is so pretty! Thanks Shelly!!

Hi!  It's Misti again!

I've heard rumors that there are some parts of the US that are experiencing a weather phenomenon called Fall!!! LOL.

We aren't into Fall weather here yet, but it cooled down enough where we don't have any 100* temps in our 7 day forecast.  There are days where we are flirting with 100*, but they aren't in the forecast.

I've seen lots of mums and pumpkins in pictures on Pinterest and know that they will be coming to a store near me soon.  While I'm waiting, I'll just use the new and oh so pretty, Flourishes - Chrysanthemum stamp set!!!!  It is GORGEOUS!!!!

Stamps: Chrysanthemum by Flourishes
Embossing folder: Dots by Crafts Too!
Patterned Paper: French Country 6 x 6 paper pad by Graphic 45
Tim Holtz Distress Markers: Fired Brick, Forest Moss, and  Mustard Seed

The other Flourishes new release stamps are now available in the Classy Cards 'n Such shop.  They are must have's!!

This stamp is so versatile! Imagine stamping a bunch of these and changing the colors! Just change your patterned paper and they could be for the holidays or even someone's birthday!!

Your card is so pretty!! Thanks Misti !!!

A Bluebird for Summer

Hello, it's Diane  today on the Classy Cards 'n Such blog to share with you this super cute birdie card.

We still have some summer left and it felt like the kind of  day to create a summery card and this cute stamp was perfect!

I don't know if you are familiar with Stampavie stamps or not, but once you see them I know you will LOVE them as much as I do.

This little fellow is called Bird on Dogwood Branch. I made him into a bluebird, I just love the pop of orange color on his belly. I colored him in with Copics and added a teeny tiny lady bug made with Viva Decor Pearl Pens, Black (out of stock) and Viva Decor Pearl Pen - Red. His butterfly friend is also part of the 2 piece stamp set. A bit of Stickles was added to the center of the flowers.

The frame you see around him is a Cheery Lynn Designs die called Polynesian Sails Oval. This die is a wonderful buy, as inside is a small doily die, so when purchasing it, it is like getting 2 dies for the price of one! What a bonus!!!

The polka dot paper you see (pretty isn't it?) is from the 6x6 paper pad by Simple Stories called Vintage Bliss.  Beverly has several paper pads to choose from and is adding new ones all the time. If you would like to give them a peek, you can see them here.

I finished off my card by making my own envelope with the  We R Memory Keepers - Envelope Punch Board. You just have to get one of these! They make over 60 super easy sizes of envelopes. I have to warn you, once you start making them, you don't want to stop!!

It's a good way to use up some of those papers that you just don't know what to do with! These can be lined and a hint is when you cut your paper (this one is cut 8 1/8" by 8 1/8"), you cut a pretty piece of designer paper slightly smaller, maybe 8" to line the inside of the envelope before you score and punch it.  You could also use double sided designer paper, and turn out beautiful ones that way, also! I made mine out of cardstock, then just somewhat outlined my stamp with a marker and stamped it on the front!!

Some of the other items I used to make my card are:
I hope you enjoyed my project today...and I will see you again soon!

A very pretty card! Thanks Diane!!

Hello there friends!! It's Diane today, and I have a fun project to share with you today using some Christmas dies.

Making my own Christmas tags has always been a favorite way of mine to use up those scraps of card stock, papers and ribbons. It's fast, it's fun, and it's wonderful to hear the oh's and ah's when the gifts are handed out.

For the Christmas tree tags, I got a bit creative and used the Cheery Lynn Designs - O Tannenbaum die, by cutting off the two lower branches, making it a perfect size for my tags.

My next group of tags uses the Memory Box - Deer Trio die. I just cut the deer apart and used each one separately.
Notice the red pearl on the nose of the one deer...cute!!

For the tree line I used Poppy Stamps - Pine Tree Border.
I cut one border and it made all three tags!!

My last three tags were made with one of the beautiful Cheery Lynn Designs dies called Snowflowers Set 2. Just the name alone got my attention to buy it! There is also a Snowflowers Set 1 with three more different snowflakes!

That's all until I see you again soon!!

Great tags, so fun, so fast! Thanks Diane!!

Call To Me

Today's card is from one of our guest designers, Shelly Newkirk. Shelly used only one color of ink to enhance the embossing on her card!  Her card is similar to the Belleek Inspired technique that seems to have taken the crafting world to new heights.

Belleek
Belleek

To start, emboss a piece of 5.50 x 4.25 inch white card stock in Spellbinders Whimsy Embossing Folder. Very lightly “kiss” only the raised embossed portion with a sponge inked with a light brown or tan ink.

Attach to an A2 plain white card base.  (A2 = 5.50 x 4.25 inches, also called a quarter fold).

Next, position a Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Nine die in the exact center of a 5.50 x 4.25 inch piece of white card stock and tape into place. Cut and then emboss with the rubber mat. The embossing with a rubber mat is not a must with the frame, but I find that it is one of those little touches that really adds a classy look the finished product.

Lightly sponge the outer and inner edges of the newly cut frame with the same ink used on the embossing folder piece.  Since I like the 3-D effect, I have attached cut pieces of flat from a paper egg carton to the back the frame.  Attach the frame to the card base.

The sentiment is a Scripture that I have created in PSP X and cut with a Spellbinders Nesting Rectangle. After lightly sponging the greeting with the same tan or brown ink, I also gave it a raised effect using flat pieces of an egg carton and glued inside the frame, over the embossed background.

With plain white paper again, cut one of Cheery Lynn Designs Exotic Butterflies and the angel wings that go under the butterfly. With that same tan or brown ink, heavily sponge the angel wing (liner) and lightly sponge the edges of the butterfly. Position the butterfly artfully on the card front.

The same ink is sponged on all the pieces used in the design.  The design can be made totally in white with no sponging, but for my purposes here the sponging really helps show the layers and embossing.*

I really enjoyed sharing this card with you. Maybe you'll just be inspired to try this technique!

Such a pretty card! Thanks Shelly!!

Butterfly Wreath

Hi, it's Holly posting today.  See the little butterfly wreath framing the sentiment?  I've had this idea floating around in my head for a couple weeks and I just had to see how it would look on paper.

I started by cutting out the French Pastry Doily (Cheery Lynn Designs) from Kraft cardstock, and then I stamped the sentiment from the Sweet Wishes stamp set (Stampavie) in the center with dark brown ink.

Next, I used the Butterfly Delights die (Memory Box) with pale pink, rose pink, and dark brown cardstocks to create a big pile of tiny butterflies.  I took my time adhering each butterfly in a circle around the sentiment on the doily. Baby White Pearls were added to each butterfly body and then I used my fingers to fold up the wings so they look like they are fluttering.

My card base is dark brown card stock, 5" square.  The pink layer was stamped with the gorgeous Tapestry 2 Background (Impression Obsession) and then I wrapped some Chalk White Seam Binding around it.  The pink layer was then adhered to the card base and then I glued the doily down on top.  I fashioned a small bow from the Chalk White Seam Binding and affixed it to the edge of the doily.

I love how this tiny butterfly wreath turned out!  It's fun to see ideas come to life using paper, stamps, dies, and ink!

Your card is so pretty!  Thanks Holly!!

With Sympathy

Hi!  It's Misti again!

It is hard to believe that my 2 months as Guest DT has come to an end.  It just flew by!  It has been such a pleasure working with Beverly and her DT. Thank you so much, Beverly!

I have one more card to show you.  I have a hard time with sympathy cards, but an even harder time making them ahead of time for some reason.  I have been telling myself for awhile that I needed to try to have at least one on hand. Instead of making this a thinking of you or a praying for you card, I used the sympathy sentiment.

Supplies used:
Layering Swatches #2 - I used the Black
Baby Rhinestones - Black

As you can see in the photo, I used black and white panels in different sizes for the layers for a great classic look.

After I applied a strip of gold and black paper from the  French Country 6 x 6 paper pad by Graphic 45 to a black panel, I wrapped the Seam Binding - Chalk White around the back panels of the card. Then I attached these layers to the base of the card.

Using the beautiful  With Sympathy - JustRite stamp, I colored it using the  Tim Holtz Water Brush and markers listed above. Applying the color with the water brush, gives the roses and leaves a soft and delicate coloring.

Since the card had a lot of rectangular panels I decided to soften the lines by using the Classic Scalloped Ovals Large dies to add my sentiment.

The final touch was to use the sentiment stamp also found in the With Sympathy by JustRite stamp set and added the Baby Rhinestones - Black just above and below the sentiment.

I have enjoyed my time as a guest designer and hope I was able to inspire you with my postings!

Such a pretty sympathy card! Thanks Misti!!  Misti may have completed her guest designer term, but I've asked to stay on as a regular design team member and she has accepted!   You will be seeing more of Misti's beautiful cards!!
